Ready-to-use Blends for the Production of EPS

The Technical Applications Business Unit of IOI Oleo GmbH shows what it means to realize customers´ requirements.

People trust well-known brands because they serve as signposts and orientation, especially in complex areas. This trust is based, among other things, on a convincing and fundamental vision of the individual company. At IOI Oleo GmbH, our mission is to offer our customers and partners solutions. In order to achieve a guiding function, our vision must be firmly embedded in our corporate culture.

The Technical Applications business unit of IOI Oleo GmbH shows impressively how customer requests are understood and implemented. Here, we offer a portfolio of various processing aids under the SOFTENOL® brand name for the production of EPS (expanded polystyrene). From these raw materials, customers can produce blends (mixtures of different components) to suit their needs. However, this business unit stands out through its unique selling proposition: the development of customized blends based on specific customer requirements. These ready-to-use blends are adapted in their mode of action to the characteristics of the EPS to be processed, the production equipment and the desired final product properties.
Coatings are an elementary component in the production of EPS and not only ensure an economical and efficient process, but also have a direct influence on the finished product and its quality. For example, with the help of special formulations, stability can be increased, density reduced, flammability made more difficult or water absorption lowered, depending on which solutions the customer requires at the time. Developing these solutions is our core competence; cross-industry knowledge, decades of experience and the corresponding research facilities speak for themselves. This gives our customers the freedom to concentrate fully on what they do best − manufacturing products from EPS.

The usage of specially developed blends offers a number of advantages for our customers:

  • Time savings (less own development work)
  • Process efficiency (optimization of production time)
  • Less equipment (our customers do not need a development facility and blending equipment)
  • Storage capacity (only one component needs to be stored)
  • Product performance (through special development, the quality of the product can be specifically improved)
  • Cross-type use (blends can be developed by us so that they can be used for different EPS types)
