IOI has an holistic approach to sustainability – certified by the PSCI

10. July 2022

Climate change in all its aspects is one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century and cannot be solved through political debates alone. The economy is an elementary component in achieving the climate goals. Therefore, the sustainable and environmentally conscious orientation of our company is an integral part of our long-term business strategy.

The demand for sustainable operations is deeply rooted in IOI Oleo’s DNA and accompanies us in our daily work. In recent years, we have not only made our product portfolio more sustainable, but also implemented a diverse range of other measures:

  • Replacement of conventional lamps with LED lamps

  • Reuse of waste to reduce natural gas

  • Optimization of the biogas plant to increase performance

  • Optimization of production processes to spare resources

Our sustainable actions go beyond saving and conserving valuable resources, which we want to underpin with our membership in the “Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative – PSCI”. The PSCI is a group of pharmaceutical companies all sharing a vision of better social, health, safety and environmental outcomes in the communities in which we source and operate.

The PSCI Principles relate to five areas of responsible business practice: ethics, human rights and labour standards, health and safety, environment, and responsible business. This holistic approach reflects our conviction and is a further contribution to ensuring safe medication.
