Our sustainability initiatives

Sustainable action – For us, sustainability is both a conviction and a strategic decision.

Sustainability was a clear strategic choice for the Business Unit Personal Care before it became a major topic in the industry. The site of Wittenberge was for example one of the earliest in Germany to receive a biogas retreatment installation, allowing us to reduce our energy consumptions before it became a trend.

Since our integration to the IOI Group, sustainability has been even more incentivized and backed up by our mother corporation heavily involved in the topic since its participation in the foundation of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) organization. Along the path, many bold initiatives have been taken, such as the costless full conversion of our whole portfolio to RSPO Mass Balance grade, or the first launch of a Segregated (SG) Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT, INCI: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride).

Traditionally, our sourcing policy has always integrated other renewable raw materials from more local sources (EU-grown rapeseed or sunflower for instance) to decrease our carbon footprint. When applicable, our business unit started for this to integrate supply chain verification tools.

We also offer lower carbon footprint options by shifting classic product references to fully renewable versions according to ISO 16128 (like most recent ECO versions of MIGLYOL® 8810 or MIGLYOL® 829).

Regularly audited or certified by recognized sustainability stakeholders (EMAS certification or Eco-Vadis label for instance), we complete our approach by also offering fully nature-based, waterless or solid formulas in our application laboratory to stimulate greener options for our market.
